About Us

Reiki Education and Research Institute, former name Reiki Education, Inc. originally began as the Charlotte Reiki meet-up group started in January of 2007 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The group was started by William Coryer and Mei Yin Hung, two Reiki Masters/Teachers and a husband and wife team, who are passionate about Reiki and wanted to connect with other practitioners with similar interests. Since then, the group has evolved from a small group of like-minded people into an organization with supporters around the world. During the development, their mission of raising awareness of the health benefits of Reiki and helping others to cope with life challenges utilizing Reiki are becoming very clear.

In 2008, Bill and Mei Yin were inspired to develop a non profit organization so that they could continue their effort of helping others with Reiki and to embrace other practitioners to continue this important mission. In 2009, lead by Bill and Mei Yin, supported by the Board of Directors, volunteers and the medical staff at the CaroMont Cancer Center, Reiki is being introduced to their cancer patients, survivors and caregivers and now Reiki therapy is utilized as an adjunct treatment to conventional cancer treatment at the Cancer Center. Since 2007, Reiki Education and Research Institute has organized more than 140 community outreach events including healing circles, Reiki orientation programs, Reiki practitioner’s events, Reiki internship program, Reiki wellness programs and clinics.

Reiki Education and Research Institute is continuing their efforts in improving the education standards of Reiki, to conduct scientific research and to build a collaborative and professional Reiki community.
